of Lithaire

Lithaire is situated with the Parc Natural des Marais. The Parc is an important local nature reserve which is home to a host of flora and fauna and has many interesting walks. The village bakery is open from early morning, which means that fresh bread and croissants can be collected for breakfast. Mont Castre, which is opposite the cottage, was the site of an important battle during WWII, being directly on the route west as the Allied Troops fought their way west from Utah Beach to cut off the peninsular. 2000 lives were lost during this battle . As you explore Mont Castre you will find Neolithic stones, the ruins of a chateau and the old village church. The pits left by the quarrying of Mont Castre have now filled with water and become peaceful lakes where you can sit and enjoy a picnic

Lithaire has a pretty 14th Century church, A great way to explore the local area is by bike, you can bring your own or use ours. Locally, the chateau gardens in St. Jores are lovely, and we are very close to the network of cycle paths that criss-cross the county.
