Château Bellenau is situated in the heart of the beautiful countryside, about 40 minutes from the port of Cherbourg near the East coast of la Manche, Normandy. We have seven self-catering holiday apartments (or in Normandy, gites), a charming folly cottage and 2 gipsy caravans set within 9 acres of unique 19th Century landscaped gardens. The vacation apartments are in converted barns, some dating back to the 15th century, set around a communal courtyard adjacent to the château. The gites in Manche are a short drive from wonderful sandy beaches, and ideally placed for visiting the D-Day landing sites (Bellenau was the first Château to be liberated after the Utah beach landings.)

Possible day trips include Mont St. Michel, Paris by train from Carentan, medieval Bayeux, or the Channel Islands. The market town of Carentan is 5 minutes drive away, and has a good variety of shops, supermarkets, cafes and restaurants, as well as a vibrant market on Monday mornings. There are many fetes & fairs and bric-a-brac sales throughout the year, to give you a taste of local life.

Nearby sporting and leisure activities nearby include: tennis; swimming; golf; clay pigeon shooting; horse & donkey riding; canoeing; wind and kite surfing; sailing and land yachting; birdwatching; fishing; walking. You are more than welcome to bring your fishing tackle and fish the waters here at the chateau. The Château is within the National Parc des Marais with its wealth of fauna & flora. The Ponts d'Ouve nature reserve is 1km away.
